Celebrating Success at the Agricultural Challenge

Both Windsor and Dover classes have enjoyed an exceptional year of learning, creativity and teamwork through their involvement in the Agricultural Challenge, culminating in outstanding achievements at this year’s final.

Windsor class have worked incredibly hard throughout the year, developing a wide range of skills while preparing their entries. At the final, our Windsor representatives spoke to the judges with confidence, using visuals and communication aids beautifully. We are thrilled to share that Windsor won first prize overall, proudly bringing the trophy back to school. They also secured first place in three individual categories:

  • Decorated eggs (inspired by Mr Tumble)

  • A giant insect made from recycled materials (The Very Hungry Caterpillar)

  • A story collage created using natural materials (Oliver’s Vegetables)

The project has supported Windsor’s ASDAN coursework, with students showing impressive progress in communication, transitions and even their willingness to taste new foods. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, creativity and enthusiasm. Well done, Windsor.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dover class, who were invaluable in helping transport artwork to and from the bus and assisting with the display setup.

Since September, Dover class have been developing the raised beds in the garden area as part of their own Agricultural Challenge entry. What began as a “Dover Dragons’ Den” pitch to Jon and Atul for £100 of funding has grown into a sustained, hands‑on project involving garden centre visits, weekly maintenance and the cultivation of a wide range of produce. Each Tuesday, the class use their harvest to prepare and enjoy a two‑course lunch together, building independence, teamwork and practical life skills.

For the final, Dover students prepared artwork, written work and photographic evidence with great pride. They spoke confidently to the judges about their learning and the experiences they enjoyed most. Their ability to engage positively with a variety of adults was impressive, and they embraced the opportunity to meet students from other settings.

We are delighted to announce that Dover class were awarded first prize for their photographic record of a planted container, as well as receiving a Highly Commended award overall.

Working alongside Windsor class throughout the year has strengthened both groups’ preparation, and the mutual support between the classes was clear to see. We are incredibly proud of every pupil involved and grateful for the teamwork, creativity and determination they have shown.

A huge congratulations to both Windsor and Dover for their exceptional achievements in this year’s Agricultural Challenge.
