Coronavirus update

Dear Parents and Carers,

I wanted to keep you up to date in terms of what we are doing at The Castle School to keep everyone as safe as possible. We have taken the decision to do the following things to try and limit contact during the school day for our pupils and staff. The following comes into effect tomorrow (Tuesday 17th March) and will continue for 3 weeks until the start of the Easter Holidays, when I will be able to update on what happens next term. We will:

Ø  Cancel all visitors to both school sites

Ø  Suspend external training for all staff

Ø  Suspend all school trips to external sites (please note that visits between Love Lane and Post-16 will continue)

Ø  Suspend all school events

Ø  Suspend after-school clubs

Ø  Suspend SISS and outreach services to other schools

Ø  Suspend Peripatetic music teachers coming in

Ø  Stop home visits

Annual reviews will continue, however parents and other professionals should not attend on site. We will arrange a phone call to enable discussion as far as possible.

I know that the above may cause some concern, but I have a duty to ensure as best as possible I keep our pupils and staff safe. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

I will be sending out a further email tonight which will outline the latest government advice on self-isolation and when someone should not attend school.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks for your continued support at this time,

Jon Hewitt

Headteacher
