Totnes and Oxford's Digestive Journey

Totnes and Oxford classes have been learning about the digestive system. This week they completed a practical (and rather messy) investigation. They explored what happens to the food we eat. They recreated the journey of food through the digestive system using a jam funnel (oesophagus), plastic bags (stomach), coke (stomach acid) and tights (small and large intestines). They explored how the nutrients and minerals are removed from the food and explored how the body gets rid of the waste.

It was certainly a lesson where the pupils learn lots of new things and an experience that they will remember!
